Dutch
DUTCH is about a year old and is a very tall young man tips the scales at about 55 lbs of very lean physique. Dutch looks like a purebred smooth coat border collie, but he might have a touch of something else as well. Maybe that's what contributed to his generous helping of ears!
Dutch is a real nice dog. Initially he was extremely laid back and relaxed, but the longer he spends in foster care, the more active he gets! He is now a typically active adolescent herding dog with lots of energy to spare, and if you don't give him something constructive to do, he will find his own fun! He is NO LONGER the border collie for people who want a border collie without the hard work that goes with a high drive dog - Dutch is a busy guy!
He seems to like pretty well everyone he meets and is very friendly with all people big and small. He likes to perform for food rewards as he really likes food, but he doesn't have a very soft mouth yet so he sometimes gets your fingers when he's grabbing for a cookie - this probably wouldn't go over so well with young kids. In other ways, Dutch is very soft and will flinch if you raise your voice with him or grab at him roughly. He's a great candidate for clicker training and a gentle handler.
He has gotten on well with the dogs in his foster home. He was a bit lip-lifty with other males, but now shares a home with several males and plays with them all! He likes a game of chase-n-wrestle with his foster sister, and if you watch carefully you'll see bursts of activity when he's by himself in the garden with a Kong or some other toy. It seems Dutch just doesn't know how to play with people yet - he needs someone to show him how fun that can be.
Dutch is a 1 year old neutered male border collie, smooth coat. He is very tall. Dutch is a medium to high energy dog. He is dog social but is not good with cats. Dutch is friendly but wary of men and may be too pushy for small children. He is located in Maple Ridge.
Dutch is a good house dog as he is generally polite, and is housebroken, but he has been known to dig a well in the yard if he is bored. He no longer gets carsick and enjoys car rides as they take him fun places, like to the dykes where he loves to run with his foster siblings.
Dutch is a great companion dog - he's up for just about anything and he is a great best friend. And who wouldn't want a new best friend? But he needs his daily exercise and would enjoy having a job to do.
Dutch has an unhealthy interest in cats and should be in a cat-free home or one with a very dog-savvy cat only, and discouraged from bothering it. He is neutered, vaccinated and mircochipped and ready for a new adventure!
